Plasticapp & CAPA: An Agile Partnership for Innovative Waste Management in Ajaccio
28 Nov 2025
The Communauté d'Agglomération du Pays Ajaccien (CAPA) faces a major challenge: effectively managing waste in a dynamic territory, marked by strong tourist seasonality. Ajaccio, the jewel of Corsica, sees its population and waste management needs fluctuate considerably, making traditional processes often costly and complex. To meet this challenge, CAPA has chosen to innovate by partnering with Plasticapp, a solution designed for municipalities and associations wishing to optimize urban cleanliness and citizen engagement.
It was in June 2025 that the Plasticapp teams presented CAPA with a demonstration of the Citybin monitoring platform. Interest was immediate, particularly for already promising features:
The Genesis of a Collaboration: From Demo to Key Features
This partnership with CAPA is not a simple deployment, but a true co-construction. The multiple meetings and field feedback have allowed the platform to be enriched with essential functionalities directly resulting from the processes and concrete needs of the municipality:
- Citizen reports: The ability for residents to quickly report waste-related incidents, thus promoting increased responsiveness.
- Redirection of reports: An innovative ability to transfer these reports to relevant communal services (such as road maintenance), ensuring quick and coordinated action.
- Real-time data: Instant visualization of information for better decision-making.
- Precise geolocation of bins: Already operational mapping, essential for optimizing collections.
A Co-constructed Solution: Agility in Service of Field Needs
These additions perfectly illustrate Plasticapp's philosophy: a solution "designed by and for municipalities," where user experience and municipal processes are at the heart of development.
- Inter-service transfer of reports: Now, a report can be directly transferred from the Citybin platform to other communal services (e.g., road maintenance), streamlining communication and accelerating problem resolution.
- In-app message validation: Before any publication in the citizen application, a message can be verified and validated by the municipality's communication department. This ensures controlled public communication in compliance with local directives, a crucial aspect for any municipality.
Ajaccio and Seasonality: An Asset for Optimization
The complexity of a tourist city like Ajaccio, with its seasonal peaks in visitors, requires particularly flexible waste management. Plasticapp offers CAPA the potential to adapt its waste collection strategies to variations in demand. Thanks to real-time data and responsive reporting, the municipality can anticipate and adjust its operations, thus avoiding clutter and nuisance, and contributing to preserving the attractiveness of its territory. Although it is still too early for concrete figures, the deployment of Plasticapp already foreshadows a more proactive and adaptable approach to the specific challenges of a major tourist destination.
Future Prospects: Together for More Engaged Municipalities
The partnership with CAPA is a promising first step. Plasticapp wishes to go further by proposing targeted awareness campaigns: summer animations around sorting organized during the tourist period; and in-app events, collaborative initiatives with other municipalities or local businesses, directly integrated into the Plasticapp application, to strengthen citizen engagement.
Conclusion: Plasticapp, the Partner for Municipalities for Sustainable Management
This first contract with CAPA marks a significant step for Plasticapp. It demonstrates not only the relevance of our solution for the complex challenges of municipalities, but also our commitment to co-construct effective tools adapted to field realities. Plasticapp is more than a platform; it is an agile partner for any municipality or association desirous of innovative waste management, improved urban cleanliness, and engaged citizenship for a more sustainable territory.
